Frequently Asked Questions

..and a little bit more about me too!

Are you insured?

Yes. I’m insured for £1m public liability. The policy is available on request.

Can you explain how the copyright works on my wedding photos in practice?

This is a common question and a completely fair one!

In practice, I own the copyright for your images, but you will have full usage and can effectively do whatever you like (print, distribute etc.), besides selling them as your own images.

For example, if you were to start a wedding photography company, you wouldn’t be able to use them as your portfolio or sell them as prints.

How booked are you? Can I book my wedding at short notice?

Try me. A lot of my week is usually spent editing, and I live pretty centrally in London, so I can make things work at short notice (presuming you’re near London!). I would encourage booking early!

What do you mean by ‘documentary style’?

Documentary style (or photojournalistic), for me anyway, means I shoot more candid and natural shots, looking for the moments which may have been otherwise overlooked.

I hate being photographed (not a question as such!).

I do too. I know how you feel!

It’s important to help people feel at ease as the photographer and have a bit of fun, which comes across hugely in the images. I do everything I can to stay out of the way, so hopefully, you can get on with your day uninterrupted.

How many pictures do you take?

I shoot a lot of pictures - thousands over the day. I bring a very quiet camera for the ceremony and use it where possible.

How many pictures do you deliver?

Over a typical 8-10 hour wedding, around 500 full-res pictures.

How long have you been shooting weddings?

I shot my first (friend’s) wedding in 2016 and not stopped since, apart from in Covid times, when I did an MA instead!

Do you do any filming?

I do, but I would recommend someone who specialises in it. I’ve recently worked with Mamen, who is an absolute film legend.

Do you encourage group shots?

Yes, absolutely! They’re so important to have.

I have a go-to list of shots, but additional suggestions are always welcome.

An appointed wing person is always helpful on the day to help herd the guests!

What if it rains/snows/the world ends?

I keep shooting…

What are your payment terms?

50% BACS payment to book the date , then the balance after you’ve approved the gallery and are happy with everything.

What happens if you’re unwell on the day?

I would do everything humanly possible to be there. If not, I would do everything humanly possible to ensure it’s covered by someone very competent.

I have a good list/network of wedding photographers/friends I could call on to cover it (subject to availability).

I would of course refund all of your deposit too.

How do you deliver the pictures?

I use an online gallery, which you can curate and download and print your full-res pictures.

Do you make albums/books?

I don’t, but I’m happy to help you curate some images.

I find my clients usually know what they want, and the gallery software makes it easy for them to make lovely books and prints etc.

Can we create a bespoke package?

Yes! Please get in touch to discuss bespoke options.

Do you need a meal/feeding? Do you have dietary requirements?

If I’m working an entire wedding, it’d be appreciated.

I don’t eat animals (I always bring loads of nuts, just in case).

How long does it take you to send over the pictures?

Usually within three weeks, sometimes a bit longer in busy seasons.

You do performing arts photography and documentary photography too?

Yes! I’ve recently worked for performing arts venues and clients such as Punchdrunk (I’m a big fan of this show too), National Theatre and The Barbican Centre, I also work a lot with fringe theatres, mostly around London. I love shooting live performances.

I’ve been collaborating on a local community documentary portrait project for a couple of years on a street corner in Brixton, called Wallflower Brixton, if you’d like to check it out.

Do you ever find wedding photography stressful? I’ve heard it can be stressful…

No, not really. It’s essential to keep very organised, with all of the schedule and documents organised - and the venue fully recce’d!

I have back-ups of camera gear - and back-ups of that too.

I still get a little bit nervous before the day, but that goes away as soon as my cameras are out. Time flies once I get going - it’s a very fun thing to do!

Do get in touch if you have any

questions which aren't on this list!
